What a Crock! Pot.

Mary Claire is home from school.  Her ear hurts. : (  She went upstairs to take a nap, and I hope she feels better soon!  I don't know if she'll feel like going to gymnastics today.  I made a roast beef in the crock pot, since I'm usually not home till 5:40 with her, and we are usually starving by then!
I had Mother's Day Out today, and did really well!  I was in and out of the grocery store in almost 30 minutes!  (my record?)  Then, home to brown some beef, cut up carrots and onion for the crock pot, put away groceries, and back out the door.  I had this great coupon for Banana Republic (30% off, only good today!), but when I got there, I realized it was only good from 5-9pm.  Who on Earth gets to shop between those hours?  Talk about limited.  I picked out some stuff that can "grow" with me, and they did a PreSell (took my card info, and will ring it up after 5pm).  I liked one sweater, but they didn't have the color in the right size, so they found it in Fayetteville, which means now I have to go back to both stores!  Maybe since we MiGhT miss gymnastics, I could go there??
Ethan did fine at MDO.  He's been screaming a lot lately for me and Ches.  I think it's a small attachment thing/phase.  I kinda got his mind onto other things (delivering girl scout cookies to the teachers!) so his attention was diverted.  It worked, and I picked him up a little early at the end.  Maybe if he sees I'm the first to be there, he'll be less nervous?  There is no perfect answer, but I need the time alone, and he needs time away from me.

Ps-punctuation matters, don't you think??

Please pray for all ladies you know that are pregnant.  It is not an easy time.  There are all kinds of things to worry about, and anything can happen.  Every day is an accomplishment.  I can understand that it's hard to just enjoy it.  I have friends that need your prayers, so if you have extra time..offer up some prayer! : )  Thank you~

Real Sick Day

Sometimes I expect to open my blog, and see a new post *magically* appear! Yeah, right. It's a weird feeling, to wait to see what comes up! I look at what I wrote, and it seems like a year ago! I do so much living in a day!

Today, we had another kind of sick day. Ethan woke up from his nap crying, and so sad and pathetic. I felt sorry for him, but I didn't know what was wrong, or how to help him. He finally told me "Tummy hurt", so I figured we might be in for quite an evening, and he didn't let me down! He's now thrown up more times than I have fingers, and everything from clothes to my bed sheets, to my furniture slipcovers, to towels, blankets, washcloths, is washing or waiting its turn. I had to do a gross thing: I knew the throw up was coming, and I didn't want it on my freshly steam-cleaned carpet, so I caught it in my lap, and kinda scooped it toward me. I know, gross. I had Mary Claire (she was so ultra-helpful!!) run get a laundry basket and towels, and we stripped down right there, me and my baby. He seemed to feel better for a little while, so I put him in the tub, jumped in the shower, then jammied, and jammied him. We had a short recovery time (time to put stuff in the washer) before it started again. This time, we were on my bed-bad idea, but I was getting sleepy. So, now my sheets are stripped, and I'm waiting on the washer to finish. I've already called the nurse (ACH nurses field the calls this late), and she thinks it's a virus, even though he has no fever. We are to call back if he's not better by morning. It could be an ear infection, but he has tubes in his ears, so I think that's unlikely (tomorrow insert my wrongness here).

In other news, Ethan's gymnastics could've gone better. I think he doesn't like the waiting in line part. That seems to be his downfall. Poor kid: none of us truly like to wait, but it's part of the game of life. (like having to wait to see what's truly wrong with him!)

I have made a decision about which painter to use. I called my insurance company again, called the painter, and they'll have to rendezvous to get the price right (or at least agree on something) before the work shall begin (which I dread). He said it'd take about a week. Not so bad. May have to eat out some since the kitchen will be in scaffolding and plastic for a few days. Hmm..I should see the upside to this! : )

Do you know anyone locally who likes to iron? (I know, ha ha) I have all these clean clothes that are calling out to an iron that just doesn't answer. I know they need to be taken care of, but when? Between throw-up laundry loads? After the hand-washed dinner dishes (since my dishwasher was running the day's dishes)? After watching the fourth Curious George video with Ethan? Yeah, anyway, I need some ironing done. In a smoke-free home, pets okay, just no fur on the clothes, please. Not picky, no sharp creases needed, just flatish.

We went by Mom's today to pick up a paper, and we stayed a while: lunch, playing outside, pruning her crape myrtles and boxwoods.. : ) Ethan had a ball (well, literally and figuratively!). He ran around the house, played with the cars, sticks, and a big dump truck. He was so cute! He did run down the hill and into another yard (by a barbed wire fence!! Yes, she lives in the country) and I panicked. Mom wants him to be tough, but I was so worried! It looked like he was swatting at the barbed wire, so I ran to him. He was fine, maybe it was just a bee? Anyway, I somehow broke my sunglasses as I was hacking at the branches up above my head. They fell, and darn it, they are so cute and rhinestone-y, but they don't have the resolve to stay in one piece! Then it got worse. I was looking up into the sun, trying to cut off the old flower parts (which you can use in homemade potpourri), and then my crazy hair was in my eyes, face, mouth.. It made it so much harder-the wind was awful! But I have to say the warm sun was awful nice-I was glad to not have a jacket on!

Alrighty, washer is calling me. It wants to go for another round, and can I make it happy!

Gymnastics, Gigantic Green Beans, Gross TP, and GS Cookies

What an experience! I got quite a workout at Ethan's gymnastics class! He was all over the place-never really where he was supposed to be. I got more exercise restraining him (holding him where he was supposed to be) than he did! He even refused to do some of the stuff he does at home. Ugh. The baby rebel. Or rebel baby.

This morning mom was opening a gigantic can (industrial size) of green beans, or trying to open it. (She can get the big can for $2.86 when the small is 98 cents, and the big is about 7 or 8 times as big!). Anyway, it wouldn't fit under/in her electric can opener, and she doesn't have an old hand opener. She tried to raise up the can opener and support the huge can, but no luck. We were on the phone, so I just told her to use her can opener (the one with the point, for opening canned milk), and make lots of holes and pry up the lid. Well, she's hard at work on it, Dad comes in, and says he'll open it, maybe with tin snips. He disappears, and comes back with a tool-not tin snips-a hand tool. That plugs in. He starts running it, and I'm screaming, "No!" (yes, on the phone, and he can't hear me), cause I can see disaster coming. He has what seems to be called a "nibbler" and he's cutting through the lid. Well, in the process, it drops allsorts of metal shavings down into the green beans, thereby not only ruining the green beans for consumption by live beings, but also ruining her savings that she was impressed by. Ahh!! And he wanted to just throw them in the yard for the birds, but she didn't want the birds to die from the metal shavings. It was all quite comical, but real, in some surreal way. Anyway, they are looking for a dumping ground for green beans (lots of 'em), in case you have a spot. Away from people or animals.

Scratchy toilet paper has got to be the worst. I have a roll (that I've avoided for a good 6 months or so), but it's time has come. It sat under the bathtub in the open, but raw-looking space in the cabinets under the tub. (You try explaining that one without sounding stupidly redundant.) Anyway, in one of Ethan's fun bathing experiences involving splashing, he soaked the faucet area, and water leaked down under the cabinets onto my toilet paper. It soaked the roll, and I just left it to dry out. Well, now we have finally had to use it. Gross. It's all stiff on one side, so as you unroll it, you get the combination soft/crunchy. It does not feel good. On my nose or any other place. Should I just throw it away? Or live with it for a day or two? It is like torture, and you don't remember till it's too late. And Ethan has even figured it out. He doesn't like when we unroll it to blow his nose. He has even picked up on the crunchy paper. Yuck. I'll be over it soon, but keep your tp dry, as it will harden!

A little while before Clay went to boy scouts, I was frantically trying to get his patches ironed on. Failing miserably. So, girl scouts have iron on patches, smart women we are. Guess what? Boy scouts need their mamas. Their patches have to be SEWN on. What's that about? Is it cheaper? Can they not order from the same company? Who has a mama just waiting with needle and thread (in the coordinating edge color so as not to be noticed?). Yep, Clay I guess. I got ONE sewn on in forty minutes. I have three more right now. But am I working on it? No, will wait till next Thursday. I work better with a deadline.

I got all the rest of our gs cookies ready to go out. I tied each person's order with ribbon (lime with hot pink polka dots!), and added a tag (preprinted in green) with their name and the amount owed for cookies. It was fun, and I got it done during my show. Won't bore you with details, but the cookies look fab! : )

Mary Claire came home and said that Breya wanted a notebook like the one we made her (the one with the tabs for fun stuff). Apparently she saw Mary Claire with it on the bus and said she wanted one. I think Breya is so sweet, so maybe I'll make her one tomorrow. I remember being a kid and wanting things other people had. If only I could've made a wish and made them appear!
I think only when we're kids can we really say what we love and want (although the things may change daily...). Sometimes when we are older we guard our desires like they are treasure themselves, not even telling those closest to us-like we don't "need" them, so denying ourselves. We should not necessarily reward wanting or greed, but the self-confidence to compliment somebody's thing, ask for some thing, or to reward ourselves for a job well done (with something other than a gs cookie, m&m's, or a found hoarded Valentine's candy as I did today...). So I'm impressed that Breya asked for one, named what she liked, and she'll be rewarded. I'm sure someone else could come to a totally different conclusion, but she's a doll, and it's so fun to light up a face. Mary Claire was purely ecstatic when she got to make hers, so I'd imagine Breya will be too. It's great fun to have a new thing to play with and write in. I mean, aren't we trying to encourage writing as much as reading in kids?

I think I've fallen asleep two or three times while writing, so I really should go to bed. I even begin to sound crazy (I'm really only a tiny bit crazy). It helps me be creative, so I don't push it down. Then it would need to be fed chocolate also. : ) That'd be another problem. So, let your crazy show! : ) Obviously, more tired than I realize. Maybe I'll remove the craziness tomorrow.
Oh, and I found Ethan INSIDE my dark basket/bag for dirty clothes. He managed to crawl over the top of the laundry cart, and into the empty bag. He squatted down and waited on me. Yes, we've played hide and seek with the kids, but weird. Weirder-I told him to stay there while I ran to get the camera! : ) My baby, admitting he makes all that laundry. What a sweet cutie pie.

The Good, the Bad, and the Downright Strange

Let's see:

Bad Things today:
*We found a poop on the carpet.
*My favorite blog background website, the one that actually got me started-the very reason I started (I clicked on a button on someone else's site, and then it said on the other side to click to start a blog...), yeah, they are DoWn right now, and now they are charging for backgrounds now. Color me sad.
*I had to take poop to the animal hospital for them to recheck for Lexi's coccidia. I had to turn a Ziploc inside out, grab said poop, turn the baggie around, and put it in my very nice purse (Dooney and Burke large ivory leather Chiara bag)-it's very messy at the moment, but I love it. It has a story-I got it on a family trip to St. Louis-a birthday present. But, I digress...
*Mary Claire woke up very high-386-and I had to change her site immediately. She was 126 at 12:30am, and she skyrocketed after that. I guess she had air in her insulin pump tubing or something?
She can be high, but over night is horrible. She requires so much more insulin in the morning already, and for a high, she was going to need tons! She couldn't eat breakfast or go to school, so I kept her with me till almost nine.
*I had a small child running around naked most of the morning. It keeps you on edge-like a grenade with the pin pulled!
*During our prayer this am, Clay rolled his eyes at what I was saying (aaahhhh!), and I asked God to help my kids not roll their eyes at their Mom. He thought it was so funny, and got in a better mood. Hey-God answered our prayer, and blessed my family! Sometimes you just gotta say what's on your mind!
*Ches played with my blog after I asked him not to touch it.
*Lexi destroyed lots of paper products today-napkins, newsprint, magazines, tag on a blanket, tissue... Ethan and Mary Claire took pictures. I'll have to have a look at the camera and see if any of them are good enough to post!

Good Things today:
*I remembered what Mom said, and I got around before I got the kids up this morning-and it helped! Sometimes (missing some sleep) and investing a tiny bit in yourself does really help. You don't feel so neglected, or third-rate.
*Lexi made five pees and two poops in the right place!
*I found new blog backgrounds after much stress and googling!
*My fave show is on-Grey's Anatomy! : ) and it's NoT a rerun!
*Lexi's coccida (poop protozoa) is gone now! She doesn't have to take any more meds-but she'd just gotten to liking it.
*I got to have some time alone with Mary Claire this morning, and she got to have her breakfast (Mini-Wheats) in the car.
*Ethan decided to work on potty training again. He took off his pants, and made two pees in the potty chair! I cheered for him, but didn't really push him. I did go to WM (of course) while Mary Claire was in gymnastics and buy him underwear-9 pairs (with Cars, rockets, and the thick training kind)! I've never had Pull-ups work for a child-and this is my third to potty train. They just pee and take them off. Underwear gives them that cold, dripping, wet, I've just made a mistake feeling. They always work better! I do like Pull-ups to use at night for a few months. They are essentially diapers. They absorb whatever doesn't wake them up, and they pull up like diapers. But hopefully we won't be driving up the Huggies stock much longer.
*My girl has strong arms, and is awesome on bars! She did so well at gymnastics! I had to shower her with praise-she certainly deserved it. It's always been a strength of hers-since she was 20 months-yes, really (Mommy and Me class).
*This morning during prayer on the way to school, the kids wanted to pray for Ethan like they always do-I'm so thankful they love and care about him!
*Ches helped me to find other blog backgrounds and found some HTML code to help me. I was in Deep Distress. Yes, we can still say OC.
*I got Mary Claire some new pump supplies ordered today. The Medtronic sales rep was Really Nice and understood that I was driving and couldn't write stuff down (and had a pup, her poop in my purse, daughter who was high and was insistent she was StArViNg!, and had a toddler watching a video) since I was a little busy. He said I could wait to verify my insurance info line by line aloud-his words- (when I told him it was all still the same) the next time I called-Bless Him.
*I was driving way under the limit (60 in a 70mph) when I passed a state trooper (I think I was on the phone concentrating too hard).
*Lexi ate a lot of food today, maybe she'll gain a few ounces!!
*Nurse Tracy came out to get Mary Claire (and to see Lexi) when I dropped Mary Claire off at the school since I had a jammied-barefooted(he pulls them off!)-boy, and a pup in the van. She's precious. She signed my sweetie in and everything. Lord, bless her too.
*Who else to bless? Well, Christy-the Pottery Barn Queen, Susan-ready-ing a party for two- and three-year-olds!, Mom-the-listener, Poop-investigating Vet and the Very Sweet Girls at the front desk, the precious, intelligent girls who've gone before me and figured out how to make blog backgrounds and are willing to help me!, and Christina and Meredith-they just have to make up!

Strange Things today:
*When Ethan woke up, and I opened his diaper to change it, he had a car (black corvette) down in his diaper-to the left of his manhood. There was a red place on his skin-apparently it'd been there all night. Weirder-didn't it bother him, and why didn't he take it out? I could not make up stuff like this if I TRiEd!

ps-my dryer mysteriously worked today! Yay, Whirlpool! (not quite a Maytag, but I'll take it!)
