Welcome, Marta! : )

We've had a wonderful start to school!  Mary Claire started last Thursday, and Marta, Clay, Ethan, and Carter all started Monday! : )  We are doing well, and I hope we haven't kept Marta too busy.  She's totally fallen right into step, and has done everything we have!  She didn't even take a day of rest after 18 hours of travel from Bergamo, Italy to our little corner of Arkansas! : )

She's been awesome.  We are blessed.

Clay is still running daily for cross country and practicing early every day for band.  Mary Claire is learning to drive.  She drives every day to school (with me!!) ..although as soon as she masters not turning left on a red light (!!!), and parking, she'll be driving herself and Marta to school.  Ethan is enjoying middle school and changing classes.  He is not thrilled about dressing out in physical education with a bunch of kids..but he'll make it.  We've all suffered the indignities. : O  And Carter loves first grade!  He has earned five WOW tickets (he gets to turn them in for a treat or special event when he earns ten)!

My dinner is almost done, just thought I'd record a little history as it speeds by.  It's been a blast!

Dad & Dance

Every day is a new day.  Dad's been feeling yucky for the last few days-since Saturday.  Mom thought maybe it was food poisoning, then maybe a silent heart attack, then a virus, it was so hard to determine with his general, common symptoms.  He had a little chest pain, had a headache, and was very weak.  He could barely get up to go to the bathroom or eat-he was so weak.
Well, Tuesday night John and Christine went over there and told him to go straight to the hospital!  He did, and come to find out-he was severely anemic, and was low on blood!  They did a transfusion, always scary, and gave him two pints of blood.  It is scary when it first starts, because your body can refuse it, or you can have an allergic reaction.  The nurse wouldn't leave the room, and kept checking his vital signs.  He did fine.  He was on oxygen, since his hemoglobin was so low-the oxygen binds to it to be carried around the body, and it was LOW.
Yesterday was better, he has now had an EEG, a CAT scan, and a EGD.  They thought it might be his aorta, but it wasn't.  It was a bleeding ulcer.  They are giving him lots of Protonix via his IV, and it has helped.  That's actually what I take when I have a flare-up!  They wanted to do a colonoscopy, but he wasn't strong enough for the prep.

Today, he's better, but he can't leave until his hemoglobin is up..may be a couple days.  He's getting a steady stream of visitors, so he's entertained. :  )

Later..Ok-more bloodwork showed that his hemoglobin is back down to 9.3-going down.  He got some sleeping meds for night if he needs them, still no appetite, and he's either still loosing blood, or not making new.  He may need more blood soon.  Keep him and his doctors in your prayers!

We are still busy-Mary Claire starts dance tonight, and we've gotten her shoes-two trips and frantic dance-shop-shopping/searching-you can't find them just anywhere!  We found the Red Shoe in Fayetteville, so helpful!  She got some Capezio Foot Undeez for jazz-they look like little underwear for feet-heehee-she loves them! and we got some dance shorts for after ballet-she really won't have time to change out of her leotard, but it'll kinda be like changing clothes.  Maybe I will have time to post pix tonight after class.  Tomorrow I'm headed to Branson for our fall trip, but I don't think I'll be able to post-I'm not sure we have internet! : )

Say some prayers, and THANK YOU to everyone who has registered to walk with us on September 18th-we are super excited!!! : )  We Love You and Appreciate You! : )

Bless You, Daddy

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers in our lives!
They kiss their sweeties' booboos, say their prayers, carry little ones on their shoulders (or drag them on their feet), dance to the music (when no one is watching!), take their kiddos to the movies, and get them popcorn and drinks, and then take them to the bathroom..they earn a living so we can buy food, housing, and clothing, then they take us shopping, unload the dishwasher..what would we do without them?
We appreciate you!
I heard a good program on Oprah's XM station (channel 156), it was the Derrick Ashong Experience.  He had a father's day show, and he was talking about how strong fathers help out at home and let moms take breaks so they can be better moms when they are with their kids.  It's the absolute truth.  Moms want to be with their kids, but sometimes they need little breaks, so they miss their kids and want to be close to them again!  Sometimes the best thing a father can do is take their kids out for ice cream or just to the park.  It helps them bond, and helps mom catch her breath (or catch up on laundry!).
I sure appreciate my baby-daddy!  He is great at taking the kids out, taking care of the house, and loving me and giving me time.  It makes me a better mom, and that makes us all better!   Happy Father's Day, Honey!  We love you!
I can't forget my own dad too, who hasn't aged since I was little despite the fact that we celebrate a birthday for him each year!
This is us last summer making shutters for Dolly's House (trying to help her get her house sold!)-it's a better picture, but I don't have a better copy!
This is us a couple weeks ago, but I don't have a good one of both of us..so..since it's Father's Day, it can be a good one of him.  (Love the Jimmy Buffett T!)  I think he was making me laugh anyway-he can do that.

Thanks, Dad, for all the life lessons, my love of great music (like the Eagles), and teaching me how to wash my car and use Armor-All!  I still love to wash my car (well..I use the drive thru now..)!  So-Happy Father's Day, Dad!
